Week 38. Katherine and Mataranka

Finally on the move again by Thursday. On to Katherine Gorge with a stop off at Edith Falls.

On the road we met a small tornado which disappeared just as we drew close, not sure how we would have been had we driven through it.

Decided not to camp at Edith Falls but carried on to Katherine Gorge. 9 gorges in all but unfortunately we could only travel by kayak on the first one, too many rocks to climb over to continue. Lots of notices about warning about crocs and just as we arrived back at the boat ramp one met us out on the river. Not sure who was most surprised, he stayed still, we shot off to get out of the water quickly. He actually didn't seem that interested, freshwater crocs are like that.

Last 2 days at Bitter Springs, Mataranka. Great fun jumping in the river and floating downstream in thermal water, climbing out, walking back and doing it again. Water so warm I didn't get cold.
