Ellendale Pool, Greenough Settlement

Someone recommended this camp site and we are glad we took their advice, a really beautiful setting, shame about the flies. The flies have prompted us to get the front panel which has a net screen for the tent.

Everything went well until the last morning when we had a flat battery, luckily we asked for a jump start before we were the only ones left on the site.

Greenough on the Brand Highway is an abandoned town but being preserved by the National Trust. Too many floodings over the years has made the town not practical. The DVD playing in one of the buildings records views of people who did live there right up to the 50's.

New Norcia and Pinnicles

We have been to New Norcia before but never had the tour, so this time we did.

Spent the night in the caravan park? ( parking lot behind the roadhouse ) but the next days tour made up for that.

The Benedictine Monks have reduced from 80 to 10 but still have a role to play in the community, it has changed from helping the children of the Aboriginal Community to educating all children. Great Day out.

The Pinnicles has a new Discovery Centre, explains a lot more about the area and it's wildlife. Interesting thing is that they seem to be saying that the origins of the Pinnicles is still not clear.
Are they weathered limestone rocks or petrified trees?

Back to Perth

Travelling back to Perth across country.
Ravensthorpe, Newdegate, lake Grace, Dumbleyung, Wagin, Arthur River, Perth.

Stopped in Dumbleyung to look at the lake where Donald Cambells world speed record in 1964 took place.

Week 18. Cape Le Grande

We did a day trip from Stokes Inlet to Cape Le Grande to give ourselves as much time as possible to explore.

We had the best of days, stopped of in Esperance to catch up with our favourite coffee shop, then on to the Cape. The photo's say it all.

1. Esperance Port
2. On the way to Le Grande Beach
3. Hellfire Bay
4. Having lunch, Lucky Bay
5. Saying goodnight
6. Lucky Bay

Week 18

Left the luxury of a house and headed back into the bush. First stop for one night only Shelly Beach, at the bottom of a cliff and tents only no caravans so we felt special. Unfortunately while walking on a wonderful beach I found that the fishermen had used it for a
toilet, not impressed.

Next stop Waychinnicup Beach, what a wonderful secluded camp ground this is, again tents only as the sites are very small, suits us fine. This bay is one of the few that empty into the sea with no sandbar so the water was excellent.

Next stop, Stokes Inlet, we spent 3 days here as we felt too tired to move. Did a lot of walking right out to the sandbar, along the shoreline and up the limestone cliffs, quite difficult in places but worth the effort.

1. Waychinnicup Bay
2. Shelly Beach
3. On the sand bar Stokes Inlet
4. Shoreline Stokes Inlet

Easter

Spent Easter with my brother and his family at Tenterden. This meant extra Easter eggs for Trev and myself.

1. All the children being very attentive, more chocolate coming.
2. Albany Regatta
3. Easter festival at Denmark
4. The beach we let the children loose on the Kayaks, no photo of said kids as I was safety Marshall.

Albany

Had a quick trip round Albany as it was wet and windy.

1 Cruise ship in port, they were lucky it was sunny the day they were let loose.
2. Forts Museum. Dedicated to the armed forces, lots of displays and even trenches dug in the late 1800's
3. A replica of the brig "Amity" first immigrant ship into Albany.
4. Governors Residence

Sightseeing Frenchmans Bay

1 blowholes, you can just see the spray but the noise was awesome.
2 spray from the gap
3 Natural Bridge
4 The Gap. The swell was great and pushed the spray up past the viewing platform, bit damp.
4 The salmon fishing beach, chickened out of the walk down, just the photo.

Frenchmans Bay campsite.

Great campsite, had to stay for 4 nights as the car was in for repairs again. This time the bill went to the previous garage who had mucked up. Trev did the final adjusting so all is well now.

Valley of the Giants

A must see in this part of the world. Even though we are drowning in trees we had to do the tree Top Walk, and I was not a happy bunny, bit too windy for me felt a lot happier on the walk trail below.

Walpole

Some friends we found in the Walpole campsite.

All of them looking for food, only two of them seemed to expect to get it themselves.
